Hurricane Harvey left in it's wake
many flooded computers. One unfortunate customer had 5 feet of
water in her house. It went halfway up the desktop computer
computer which turned out to be a small form factor tower. On
closer inspection, it turned out that the power supply and motherboard
were gone. but the hard drive was OK.
Is there any hope?
Since I am aware
that in order to migrate a hard drive to another computer most easily,
the exact same model motherboard must be used. I found a computer
with the exact motherboard, moved the drive and modified the BIOS
settings. The computer booted into the exact same screen as before
the flood and the user did not loose anything and even better, did not
have to learn a new computer system. Now offering bare metal restore for
migrating computer to dissimilar hardware.
